Papua New Guinea

Papua New Guinea is renowned for its incredible biodiversity—5% of the world’s species occur here—and also for its great variety of different ecosystems.  With the exception of marine fishes and corals, most groups of flora and fauna in West New Britain have not been widely studied and many species probably remain undescribed.  As a result, researchers interested in visiting Mahonia to study local plant, insect, fungi, terrestrial invertebrate, and marine invertebrate assemblages are likely to be well-rewarded for their efforts.
